New Sea Port in Koh Kong Will Facilitate Safe Shipping 

KOH KONG: Dong Tong Port, located in Koh Kong Province, was officially inaugurated on the morning of June 23 under the presidency of the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol.

The Dong Tong Port is 115 meters long, 16.50 meters wide, and has a depth of 4 to 8 meters, which can accommodate 2,000 tons of cargo. The port was built with a total budget of more than $3,110,000 USD and began construction on May 13, 2021.

The Director General of the Department of Inland Waterway Transport and Ports, Mak Sideth, stated that the construction of the port, which is a tourist and retail port, aims to facilitate the safe transportation of goods and cruises effectively. 

The Minister of Public Works and Transport said that in addition to the opening of the port of Dang Tong, Koh Kong province will also, 60% of the national road system connecting Pursat to Battambang is complete. The improved infrastructure will facilitate the transport of goods between the provinces. 

He added that citizens and tourists can travel from Battambang to Koh Kong on the newly renovated National Road 10 to enjoy the sea and see the mangrove forest in Koh Kong.

Senior Minister Sun Chanthol emphasized that the reconstruction of National Road 10 is important, as it will reduce the time and cost of transporting goods and help attract more investors to invest in Cambodia.

Senior Minister Sun Chanthol claimed that the Ministry of Public Works also plans to study other infrastructure projects, such as national and provincial road upgrades, expressways, high-speed rail subways, airports and other port projects, all of which are important economic vessels that promote inter-sectoral connectivity.
